This week, we are talking about ABC's fall tv offering, but we are ALSO talking about The Barenaked Ladies (again). First, we discuss Stumptown and Kirstie's war on lead female characters on network tv. Then, we try to work through our Downward Dog PTSD with Emergence, a show that is Spo0o0o0o0o0ky. Come for the Topical Content, stay for the Vermont dome folklore. If you are a broadcast exec, please come talk to us about what we can offer by way of Victorian ghosts if you set your show in New England instead of New York! Also, Downward Dog was a bad show.

This week, we're judging NBC and their choices in the drama category from the past few years. First, we're talking about two buuuckwild episodes of The Night Shift, a summer medical/military drama that just did a lot of things badly. Next up is Manifest, a disaster drama that's also very bad and features heavy amounts of Jesus. But never fear! We have some unexpected Jane the Virgin feels and even more unexpected TREATS, so make sure to stick around til the end.

Alex Inc and Podcast TV
April 11th, 2018 | 1 hr 29 secs
Broadcast, Media, Podcasts, Scrubs, Start Up, abc, adaptation, alex bloomberg, alex inc, gimlet media, grand designs, hatewatch, hatewatch with us, kevin mccloud, media criticism, nailed it, radio, reply all, roman mars, television, television adaptation, thought bubble, thought bubble audio, zack braff
Everyone's favorite Tuesday-Adjacent podcast is back to get a little meta as we talk about podcasts becoming tv shows and tv shows about podcasts trying to become podcasts companies......or something. We start with the new Zack Braff show Alex Inc., where we struggle with our feelings about Zack Braff, teenage magicians, family comedies, and 401Ks. Get the sco op on the upcoming Hatewatch With Us adaptation including episode synopses, the dream cast, and other hot details. Then we move on to discussing the idea of adapting podcasts into television. We ponder deep questions like which podcasts are television worthy, what podcasts would we hate to watch, and play our favorite game Listen to Kirstie and Kelsey Google. Our main take away was Zack Braff isn't great, ABC needs to stay in their lane, and Roman Mars and Kevin McCloud should face off in a competitive reality show. Send in your pitch package for the Hatewatch With Us TV Adaptation! Best one gets pitched to Hulu.
